The second annual Dr. Crowned head Birthday Concert will be held Sunday, Jan. 15, 6-8 p.m., to celebrate the existence and message of Dr. Martin Luther King, and to benefit The Seacoast One's own flesh Food Pantry. The concert will be held at Middle Street Baptist Church, 18 Court St., Portsmouth. The target of the concert is King's message of the importance of human service. In his 1963 expos entitled: "Letter From a Birmingham Jail," King stressed the accountability that each citizen has for taking action by caring for others in need, when he wrote: —¦ I am cognizant of the interrelatedness of all communities and states. I cannot sit unproductively by in Atlanta and not be concerned about what happens in Birmingham. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justness everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of fate. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly." This message of taking sortie and the interrelatedness will be the core focus of this concert through the sharing of gospel music and internal rights songs that stress equality and justice. This celebration will main attraction musical expressions, songs, readings, reflections and prayer to stimulate a vision of social justice and action.
