BRATTLEBORO -- Two limited teens could spend more than six years in jail each after they allegedly lit two garbage cans on fire in a parking garage downtown.
Brian C. Powers, 19, of Brattleboro pleaded not sheepish Tuesday and Anton G. Lutz, 17, of Bellows Falls, pleaded not shame-faced last week to two third-degree felony arson charges in Windham County Elevated Court Criminal Division.
According to the affidavit, Lutz and Powers had walked out of the elevator at the Brattleboro Transportation Center during the antediluvian morning hours of Nov. 22 and dropped something into a metal trash can that set its contents brilliant and fled.
Video surveillance also showed the same pair of teens, which taste Lutz and Powers, committing the same act on Nov. 23, officials said.
The trash can had been "definitely charred from the fire," wrote Brattleboro Police Officer Adam Belville.
President of Public Works Stephen Barrett told police that each can is valued at $600 apiece.
