The holder of three cash for containers depots in Darwin says he might have to shut down because beverage companies are refusing to take cans and bottles his firm has received.

NT Recycling Solutions managing director Leon Schulz says recycling co-ordination centres associated with beverage companies Coca Cola Amatil and Lion Nathan are rejecting the containers.

He says his companionship has more than a million containers stockpiled and he feels the beverage companies are deliberately disquieting to disrupt the scheme.

Mr Schulz says he has written to the Northern Haunts Government, asking it to force the companies to comply with the container consign scheme arrangements.

"If these companies keep refusing my containers and the government does not compel any action upon them, and nothing changes in the near future, we may have to shut the doors of our depots and deprive of to take any more containers from the general public," he said.

"We got into this because there is an Act to protect the way everyone is supposed to operate and interact.
