At most 36 hours after 17-year-old Abigail “Abi” Perkins died at Toledo Health centre, from injuries sustained in a 2-vehicle accident on Wednesday; there had already been an outpouring of tribulation from the community.
“We decided to come out here around 5 or 6 [Wednesday night] and put the seal up and a balloon and flowers,” Whitmer High School trainee John Podsinski said.
Since then, many others have come to the crash site to vacation flowers, notes and other mementos.
“We are trying to keep her memory alive,” Perkins’ classmate Brandon Copic said.
Vigils were also held, both Thursday morning and evening to honor her celebration.
Both Copic and Podsinski remember Perkins as a great friend and someone who spoke her percipience.
“She was a really fun loving person, she was outgoing, she was really to the point,” Podsinski recalled of Perkins.
Authorities say Perkins had been speeding and weaving in and out of traffic before she strayed control of her vehicle and was hit by another car along West Alexis Road.
