Colour partners
Color blocking, hot in late 2011, will continue in 2012 as a general look, along with pairing strong grays and other neutrals with brights. Farrow & Ball (www.farrow-ball.com), a go on a spree and wallpaper company based in Dorset, England, suggests some pairings:
• Pigeon, All Pale and Incarnadine: Pigeon is a mix of blue, green and gray tones, giving a weathered look that feels all in in and comfortable, especially when matched with chalky shades. The color pops when paired with All Cadaverous and accented with Incarnadine, a rich, crimson red with orange undertones.
• Brassica, High-handed White and Dove Tale: Brassica is a pale gray-purple, named after the tones often seen in the brassica people of vegetables. Pairing it with Strong White and Dove Tale — a humble oneself-gray — gives a sophisticated, modern and elegant look that’s not too formal.
• Babouche, Blackened and Pavilion Gray: Babouche is an bubbly yellow that is bold and warm and works well in a matte finish or, to actually make a statement, in a full gloss. Paired with neutrals the yellow will add a reason of fun to a room. For a warm, contemporary look, pair with Blackened, a very bantam gray, and Pavilion Gray, a cool, pale brown-gray.
