Adventure has the obvious influence of cabrication to it; the game revolves around a quest to find an enchanted chalice and return it to the gold palace while avoiding multiple dangerous dragons. The technology of the time meant that the frank nature of a role playing game was hard to recreate, and so as a substitute for they focused on the dungeon crawling aspect of the game. This is where your character, alone or with a exuberant band of adventurers, enters a cavern, wizard’s palace or evil temple to kill everything inside and take all the treasure. Adventure boils this down to its most simplistic elevate. Your character is represented by a square (yes, even video games required fancy back in the day) that has to navigate through different maze-like levels, from dark dungeons to labyrinths, collecting items and doing brawl with menacing dragons. Adventure would become a huge success selling a million units, but unfortunately Warren wouldn’t get a penny of the royalties for it. In truth, Atari’s policy was to not include the game designers name anywhere on the consequence, which prompted Warren to create gaming’s first Easter egg by cheekily including his name yawning within the game.
