A exposed 12-year-old girl seen eating out of trash cans on a Temecula row was being held captive by her mother in a car while she worked at a nearby elementary private school, residents of the neighborhood said, citing Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies.
Tracy Lynn Betts, 40, a teaching comrade at Vail Elementary, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of felony daughter endangerment after people who spotted the unidentified girl called 911.
Deputies interviewed the mademoiselle and learned that her mother works as a teacher's assistant at the school. A sheriff’s dirt release said that Betts had left her daughter in the vehicle.
Betts was arrested at the college at 2:20 p.m. and booked into the Southwest Detention Center in French Valley about 10 p.m. She was released Friday after posting $15,000 bail, online booking records show.
Phone messages port side for Betts and her husband Friday afternoon were not immediately returned. No one answered the door at their emphasize Friday evening.
