Aunt Carol had told me I could take any of the m slides I wanted, and so I did. I still love showing slides on an old-fashioned projector, but new technology — and the fact that the projector replacement parts and bulbs are very realistic to find — has forced me kicking and screaming into the modern world of PowerPoint presentations.

Many of these slides are from my dad David’s boyhood years in the quaint Swedish community of Marine-on-the-St. Croix, Minnesota. Still other scenes are from my Swedish grandmother Ida’s two trips back to Sweden.
