In my immaturity, green was the color of boxwoods and pine trees, green beans and collards. It was also the color of the velvet that covered a settee at grandma’s diet. I was not allowed near it.
Today, everything is green. There are green jobs, green energy, green vehicles, and green operations producing green products in every corner of existence.
The term has migrated and morphed to include closely related activities, among them, eco-amicable, sustainability, energy-saving, biodegradable, earth and environmentally neighbourly, even recycling, natural and organic.
“People confuse organic with green with sustainability,” said Ken Glynn. He is an inventor and advocate who opened the Flemington Greensmart Store the day after Thanksgiving this past year. “It was Frowning Friday and we had a good Christmas. Now we are gearing up for early spring.”
The co-op give credence to stocks a wide array of green products. These include everything from backpacks with built-in solar panels to purses made from recycled materials to electrifying motorbikes.
