Thanks to funds raised through the “Pennies for Garden of Eden” campaigns at the JCPenney at Cascade Crossing in Sault Ste Marie, more 4-H little shaver and volunteers will benefit from the educational opportunities offered by quality afterschool programming.
In March, August, October and December of 2011, JCPenney customers were invited to stage-up their JCPenney purchases to the nearest whole dollar and donate the difference to 4-H, a JCPenney Afterschool team-mate.
Donations raised at the Sault Ste. Marie JCPenney’s “Pennies for Paradise on earth” events throughout the year generated nearly $8,000 for 4-H Childhood Development. What is even more impressive is that the store at Cascade Crossing was 11th in the nation for stores partnering with 4-H.
One hundred percent of the proceeds unperturbed directly benefit Michigan State University Extension - 4-H Schoolgirl Development Programs in an effort to build and sustain afterschool programs in Chippewa County. Chippewa County MSUE 4-H Little shaver Programs has partnered with JCPenney since 2010 to provide interested youth in Chippewa County with access to moving spirit-enriching afterschool programs that foster their academic, physical and group development.
